Swim Ireland is taking bookings for its open water “aquatics academy” for children and adults which takes place this summer on inland waterways and off beaches around the coast.

The organisation has set four levels within the academy for children from six years up to teenagers (12 to 17 years) to adults (18 years and upwards).

The levels start with Open Water 1 which is tailored for individuals with no or limited swimming experience to Open Water 4, and there is also a “yoga and dip” class option.

Spaces are available in Annagh lake and Barnagrow, Co Cavan; Arklow, Co Wicklow; Dollymount and Portmarnock, Dublin; Dunmore East, Co Waterford; Enniscrone, Co Sligo; and Rossnowlagh, Co Donegal, according to Swim Ireland’s community newsletter.

Bookings are available online on this link here

Swim Ireland’s team is also contactable for more information on the programme at email [email protected]

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
