A Roscommon man is taking on the challenge of swimming the length of the Shannon this week for an important cause.

As the Roscommon Herald reports, Paul Little set off from Dowra in Co Cavan on Sunday (10 August) with the aim of putting in 30km a day on the 230km route to Limerick.

The experienced triathlete is swimming in aid of North West STOP, a regional service that provides counselling for suicide prevention.

Little is also a new father, which makes his dedication to the challenge even more impressive.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
