More than 65 sea swimmers took to the water at Fenit, Co Kerry, this week for the Donald Walsh Memorial Swim, which finally went ahead after an earlier postponement.
A large crowd gathered on the shoreline to watch competitors tackle the 1,500-metre course in calm evening conditions. However, the race became increasingly demanding after the tidal turn, testing swimmers on the return leg.
Organisers thanked the volunteers whose efforts helped ensure the event ran smoothly.
"A huge crowd showed up, so a big thank you to all the helpers who came along on the evening to make sure everything went smoothly," organisers said.
The swim concluded with the traditional post-race barbecue, bringing together swimmers, supporters and volunteers on Fenit's waterfront.
The annual event has become a popular fixture in the local open-water swimming calendar, combining friendly competition with a strong community atmosphere.
