Rowing Umpire and Coach Ronald Walker Dies in Cycling Accident

The death of Ronald Walker is a shock to the rowing community in Ireland. The 57-year-old, who was a Fisa and Rowing Ireland umpire, was killed in a cycling accident.

 He rowed at Coleraine Academical Institution and went on to be a mentor and coach, as well as the secretary of the Ulster Branch of Rowing Ireland. He coached Portadown and Queen’s University rower, Sam McKeown.

 He is survived by his wife, Lesley and two daughters, Rowena and Lauren.
