Nearshore surveys of the high-pressure gas interconnector pipelines running between Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man are being conducted along the shores of Loughshinny and Gormanstown by AWJ Marine.
Earlier this month, multi-beam echo sounder, side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profiler survey work took place in waters shallower than some 10m below LAT as the pipelines approach the shores of Loughshinny and Gormanstown.
Trailing wire cathodic protection works will next occur in nearshore waters off the pipeline landfalls in the waters of Loughshinny and Gormanstown from 6-7 November, subject to weather and operational constraints.
The trailing wire cathodic protection works will be carried out by Tracer 3 (callsign 3FHN8) which is a commercial cabin RIB measuring 9m LOA with a 3.2m beam, a white hull, blue tubes and a white superstructure.
This vessel will be working on a 12-hour basis, and will deploy a fine (0.5mm) copper wire from its stern to the coast.
During the works, the vessel will be displaying the relevant IRPCS day shapes and night lights and will be monitoring VHF Channels 16 and 12.
Coordinates of the work areas as well as contact details can be found in Marine Notice No 50 of 2026 attached below.
