Geotechnical site investigations for the proposed Codling Wind Park offshore renewable energy project will take place off the Dublin and Wicklow coasts from 1 August to 5 September 2026, subject to weather and operational conditions.
The work, notified by Codling Wind Park Limited through the Department of Transport, will involve cone penetration tests and vibrocore sampling to gather seabed data for the project's engineering design. Operations will be carried out in water depths ranging from three to 35 metres within the proposed wind farm area.
The survey work will be undertaken by the MV-C Trojan (Callsign: MSJL7), which will display the appropriate navigation lights and shapes while engaged in operations. Mariners are advised that the vessel will be restricted in its manoeuvring while conducting the investigations. A wide berth should be maintained, and vessels navigating nearby are requested to keep a continuous watch on VHF Channel 16.
The Department of Transport reminds all mariners of their obligations under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) and existing Marine Notices relating to vessels engaged in survey and underwater operations.
Fishing industry representatives Brian Cunningham and Francis Fanning, along with Causeway Project Manager Neil Haggan, have been nominated as points of contact for enquiries regarding the survey programme.
