The UK’s Met Office is forecasting “unseasonably strong winds” across Northern Ireland and Great Britain on Monday (4 August) as Storm Floris sweeps in from the Atlantic.
A Yellow wind warning for 24 hours from 6am on Monday will be in force across NI, North Wales, parts of northern England and the whole of Scotland.
Indeed, Scotland will bear the brunt of the summer storm, with gusts as high as 85 mph (137 kmh) in exposed areas.
Ireland appears to be escaping the worst of the extreme weather system, but Met Éireann advises that the current uncertain picture will have more clarity by Saturday (2 August).
At the very least, the public should be ready for a wet and windy start on Bank Holiday Monday.
