Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (MARA) chief executive Laura Brien and Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) chief executive Caroline Bocquel are among speakers listed for a conference on women of the sea hosted by Údaras na Gaeltachta next month.
“Mná na Mara” takes place on February 13th in the Connemara Coast Hotel, Na Forbacha, Galway.
Voices from Ireland's maritime sector will celebrate women's contribution to the marine industry, foster connections, and inspire the next generation of leaders, Údaras na Gaeltachta, the Gaeltacht development authority, says.
The keynote speaker, Marie Gleeson (Nav Mar Leadership), will share insights from her notable career spanning naval service, renewable energy, and maritime consultancy, it says.
Dr Orla Flynn, president of Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and Evelyn O'Toole of Complete Laboratory Solutions (CLS), and other figures from industry, academia, and coastal communities will also speak.
The forum will focus on three dynamic panel sessions:
- Leadership and Career Development in the Maritime Sector
- Education and Research: Shaping the Future of Marine Industries
- Coastal Communities and Culture: Maritime Heritage and Innovation in the Gaeltacht
Important themes will be discussed, including sustainable ocean management, blue economy entrepreneurship, and the integration of traditional maritime knowledge with modern practices, Údaras na Gaeltachta says.
