Kayaking expeditions in Greenland and Mexico, a solo swim around Ireland and long-distance hiking in New Zealand are among the subjects of this year's Kinvara Adventure Talks in Co Galway.
The series, now in its 12th year, takes place at Tully's Bar in Kinvara, with four Wednesday evening presentations exploring adventure, endurance and travel.
West Cork kayaking adventurers Jim and Maria Kennedy of Atlantic Sea Kayaking will share experiences from their international expeditions, including journeys to Greenland and Mexico, on Wednesday, 18 November.
Jim Kennedy has previously featured in Afloat's coverage of the Cork Harbour Festival and in reports on his cross-border Paddle for Peace initiative.
Solo Swim Around Ireland
On Wednesday, 11 November, Daragh Morgan will recount his Swim Éire project, during which he swam the entire Irish coastline solo between May and November 2025.
His talk will explore the physical and logistical challenges of the undertaking, including changing weather conditions and the essential contribution of his support crew.
The event follows last year's Kinvara talks, when round-Ireland kayaker Kevin O'Sullivan and cold-water swimmer Nuala Moore were among the speakers.
From New Zealand to South Africa
The series opens on Wednesday, 4 November, with Jack Byrne recounting his long-distance thru-hike along New Zealand's Te Araroa trail.
The final presentation, on Wednesday, 25 November, features Gerhard Terpelle, who will revisit a journey made in the 1980s from Johannesburg towards Kakamas in South Africa's Northern Cape, involving travel along the Orange River.
All four Kinvara Adventure Talks take place at Tully's Bar, Kinvara, Co Galway, beginning at 8pm each Wednesday throughout November.
