A UK Government £10m loan guarantee has helped the Co. Armagh firm, The Deluxe Group, secure a major overseas cruise ship fit-out contract.
The Portadown-based fit-out firm has won government support through UK Export Finance for the £10m in funding from Danske Bank.
In neighbouring Co. Down is where the Harland & Wolff Group was turned down earlier this year by the Labour government for a £200m Export Finance guarantee. Resulting from this led to the financial woes of the shipyard group based in Belfast going into administration.
The £10m guarantee has however helped The Deluxe Group – which specialises in the fitting out of the leisure and hospitality sectors - win the major £30m contract to fit out a cruise ship in Germany.
A team from Deluxe will spend 12 months overseas fitting out the interiors involving the dining and entertainment areas on board. This is to take place before the newbuild cruise ship sets sail in Asia next year.
More from the Belfast Telegraph on this Deluxe development.
