French cruise ship operator Ponant Cruises visited Carlingford Lough, as one of their ‘Explorer’ class sleek megayacht-like vessels arrived at Warrenpoint Port at the weekend.
A warm welcome was given to the 184-guest-capacity Wallis and Fortuna-flagged cruise ship Le Lapérouse, which docked at the Co. Down port. The Norwegian-built cruise ship, which is one of six as part of the overall fleet, has 92 staterooms and suites across five passenger decks and a crew of 118 members.
As passengers disembarked the Le Lapérouse, they were greeted by Irish dancers from the McAvoy School of Irish Dancing who truly showcased the spirit and talent of the local community.
Le Lapérouse departed the Irish Sea; however, it will return to Warrenpoint on 1st May
Yesterday, it anchored off the scenic ferry port of Fishguard in South Wales; this required the use of the vessel’s Zodiac fleet to tender guests back and forth.
Today the visiting vessel is at Cobh, Cork Harbour, having crossed the Celtic Sea, to arrive just before 0700hrs.
