Busy Time as Three Cruise Callers Expected to Foyleport this Week

Three cruise ship calls are expected to visit Foyleport this week, involving two inaugural calls and one return visit, writes Jehan Ashmore.

The first of the scheduled cruise trio is Star Legend, operated by Windstar Cruises, which is due to arrive tomorrow (11th Aug) at the port’s main terminal at Lisahally, downriver of Derry/Londonderry.

The Bahamas-flagged Star Legend yesterday departed Dun Laoghaire Harbour and is currently berthed at Belfast Harbour, where it arrived this morning.

As for the second caller, it is Vista of Oceania Cruises, which is due on Friday (14 Aug) but is to make instead an anchorage call off Greencastle, Co. Donegal. The Marshall Islands flagged Vista is also today berthed at Liverpool and is due to Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday.

The third arrival, Azamara Quest of Azamara Cruises, is set to sail into Lough Foyle this Saturday (15th Aug), and, likewise, the first visiting vessel is to berth at Lisahally. The Maltese-flagged cruise ship departed Dublin two days ago and called to Cobh this morning.

The port looks forward to welcoming the seasonal tourists; combined, they make up to 3,600 passengers and crew to the north-west region.
