It's not Dun Laoghaire Harbour's first New Zealand visitor to the town marina, but yesterday's arrival of kiwi sloop Mahina is still rare enough.
The long-distance traveller marks a very good year for international boating visitors to the south Dublin Bay town.
"UK owners are returning in good numbers, helped in no small measure by the ease of travel allowed by the Common Travel Area arrangement, no paperwork and no constraints", Marina General Paal Janson told Afloat.
"One country of note this year has been all the American boats that have stayed with us. It's rare to get quite so many Stars and Stripes on the marina, but this year, they arrived in record numbers", Janson added.
Dun Laoghaire Marina, with over 800 berths, is Ireland's largest marina. It offers a gateway to Dublin City and the local area.
