Dublin Port figures show that trading patterns have shifted post-Brexit, with shipping routes now split evenly between Britain and continental Europe.
Before Brexit, ports in Britain, Independent.ie writes, accounted for almost two-thirds of freight volumes in and out of Dublin – but that number has now dropped to half.
According to Dublin Port’s trading figures for the second quarter of 2021, freight volumes were up 40pc on continental European routes – but down by 19pc on services to Britain.
