Duty-Free Foot Passenger Day Trips Return on Irish Sea Routes

17th April 2025
Until recently, foot passengers boarded the former Ireland-France-serving ropax Stena Horizon during its temporary cover on the Dublin-Holyhead route, now replaced by the return of Stena Estrid fresh from dry-docking. As such, normal embarkation has returned, with foot passengers, including Duty-Free day trippers, bused on and off the ferry along with route fleetmate Stena Adventurer on the Ireland-Wales route. Taking the ‘Horizon’s place to France is Stena Vision.

Stena Line is currently offering special duty-free ‘foot’ passenger day trips back by popular demand on its Irish Sea routes between Ireland and Wales, writes Jehan Ashmore.

The round-trip day return offer covers the Dublin-Holyhead and Rosslare-Fishguard routes, providing customers the opportunity to bag a bargain in the duty-free shop and enjoy other facilities.

Fresh from dry-docking on the Dublin route is the leadship E-Flexer class Stena Estrid, which is partnered by the Stena Adventurer on the Holyhead route. While the Rosslare route is serviced by the Stena Nordica on the route to Fishguard.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
