Two EU member states, Ireland and Sweden, met to gather as government departments, stakeholders, and industry leaders discussed the need to strengthen resilience across transport, energy, digital, and physical infrastructure.

The roundtable of Enhancing Resilience through Innovation, Technology, and Collaboration was organised by Gothenburg-based Stena Line and co-hosted by the Swedish Ambassador to Ireland in addition to the support of the Swedish Trade and Invest Commissioner to Ireland.

Also attending the Dublin-held event was Liam Lacey, director of the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO), the state agency, which facilitated the roundtable discussion.

The roundtable gathering followed a previous Swedish‑Irish engagement held at the Embassy of Sweden in 2025, and this year’s event offered business leaders an opportunity to examine crisis preparedness, supply chain security, and the role of critical infrastructure in supporting Ireland’s economy and connectivity.

Business Plus reports on the event held this week.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
