BIM has opened its annual national seafood survey for aquaculture, with the closing date for the first phase on March 6th.
The survey which collects data for 2025 runs in two phases.
The first phase takes place between February and March and the second phase is in October.
BIM reminds active aquaculture operators that “completing the survey is a legal requirement and a condition of grants you may apply for in the next 12 months”.
The annual survey requires all active aquaculture operators to submit economic, employment, and operational details for their previous year’s activity.
“The findings of the survey provide key data and insights into the status of Ireland’s aquaculture sector on an annual basis and provide justification for national and EU grant aid programmes focused on supporting the industry and coastal communities,” BIM says.
“To complete the survey, you will need to register your email address and set up a password to gain access to the survey. You can register for the BIM online survey by clicking ‘sign up now’ on the BIM Online Survey Login page,” it says.
“If you have previously registered to complete the Fisheries National Seafood Survey online, you can access the survey using your existing log in and password,” it says.
All data gathered is aggregated by species/culture type and region prior to reporting to ensure individual business data is not identifiable, it says.
For any technical assistance registering or completing the survey, participants can email [email protected] or phone 087 4950403 (Mon- Fri: 9 am to 5 pm)
