Minister of State for Fisheries and the Marine, Timmy Dooley TD, opened the Small Craft Harbour Building at Ros an Mhíl Fishery Harbour Centre on Friday, June 13th. The event highlighted the ongoing development in the area.
During his visit, Minister Dooley held meetings with local seafood processors and the fishing community. Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, praised Ros an Mhíl’s strategic position for Ireland's seafood sector.
“The value of Irish landings into Ros an Mhíl has increased to €16 million in 2024,” Heydon noted, underlining the resilience of the sector.
Minister Dooley emphasised the significance of the new facility. “This building is a testament to the bond this community has with the sea,” he stated. The harbour will act as a hub for fishers, boaters, and visitors.
He added, “Investment in the Small Craft Harbour Building will support the development of Ireland’s rural coastal communities through diversification in the blue economy.”
