Silent Anne has been named best-dressed boat at the annual Blessing of Galway Bay and Boats ceremony.
Mike Heenan received the award for Silent Anne during the event at the pier in the Claddagh Basin in Galway City.
Fr Tom McCarthy OP and Fr Matthew Farrell OP, both of whom gave readings, were transported out on the water in Joe Shoer’s boat, Teegan. The craft is named in memory of Joe’s late grandchild, Teegan.
Music was provided by Willie Hornibrook from Beattystown on his accordion as crowds gathered for the annual ritual.

Among the many participants were Tom Oliver on the St Brendan and Kevin O’Brien’s Blue Shark, along with Galway hooker Lon Dubh.
