RTE News reports that for more than 2,000 people who live off the coasts of Donegal, Mayo and Galway polling day in the Local and European elections is today.
This is expected to be the last time that islanders will vote ahead of the rest of the country - after they argued it left them at a disadvantage.
The leaders of the main political parties will return to the campaign trail today - the final opportunity to impress the electorate ahead of polling in the elections across the country tomorrow.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will be in Cork city today - campaigning with Tánaiste Simon Coveney, to support Fine Gael candidates in the elections.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin will also be on the stump in Cork city - appealing for the public to back his party's two candidates in the Ireland South constituency.
