Irish Lights is marking ten years of the Great Lighthouses of Ireland tourism partnership with an international conference.
Titled the International Marine, Lighthouse Tourism and Maritime Heritage Conference, it will be held at Dublin Castle on 7 and 8 October 2025.
The two-day conference will feature policymakers, community leaders, tourism and heritage professionals, and international experts.
“Marine tourism and maritime heritage represent one of Ireland’s greatest opportunities for sustainable growth, cultural renewal, and community development,” said Yvonne Shields O’Connor, CEO of Irish Lights.
The event will include an address by Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Seán Canney TD.
A delegation from the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) will also attend.
Since 2015, Great Lighthouses of Ireland has united public, private and community partners across the island.
The initiative transforms surplus coastal infrastructure and heritage assets into sustainable visitor experiences.
Conference highlights include:
- Showcasing global lighthouse tourism and sustainable development examples
- Exploring archives and digital storytelling for a shared heritage
- Focusing on enterprise and collaboration within coastal communities
- Enhancing marine environments and visitor appeal
- Presenting international case studies and heritage strategies
Online attendance options will be available. The full programme and more details can be found on the conference website. Registration is now open.
