According to the Port of Waterford, this will complement their existing container services and out of Belfast, Cork and Dublin (See company's related then new cruiseship which last year made a first call to the capital).

As for the new weekly feeder service is operated by the Irish subsidiary of the German shipping group, which will connect local businesses with the deep-sea shipping hubs of Liverpool and Rotterdam.

Hapag Lloyd intends to support industry in the south-east of the country by providing an additional shipping solution. As previously exporters would have been reliant on the ports of Dublin and Cork for their shipping needs.

The close proximity to mainland Europe will provide these customers with a more cost effective and efficient service whilst connecting exporters and importers to a variety of international trade routes.
