The operator of Rosslare Europort, Irish Rail (Iarnród Éireann), has warned that ferries could soon be turned away from the port in Co. Wexford due to capacity issues.
The announcement comes as hauliers engaged in fuel protests have set up a blockade at the nearby village of Kilrane, which is about 1.6km to the west of the ferryport.
Irish Rail said it could soon have to turn ships back from entering the port and instead wait at anchorage offshore or advise vessels to seek an alternative port.
According to a spokesperson for the port authority, the situation could escalate late tomorrow night or early Monday morning.
