At Rosslare Europort an official launch event takes place today (24 Aug) at 1900 hrs to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the St. George's Channel crossing with Fishguard, South Wales.
The admission-free launch of the special exhibition presented by Rosslare Maritime Heritage Centre (but held in the ferry port terminal) commemorates the rich maritime heritage of the Rosslare–Fishguard ferry route service (1906–2026).
Explore fascinating displays of historic photographs, maritime memorabilia, and artefacts that tell the story of the ships. Also discover more about the dedicated crews, the port staff, and passengers who have helped shape this iconic route over the past 120 years.
In addition to celebrating the communities and culture of the Irish and Welsh ports, last year Rosslare was officially twinned with the towns of Fishguard and Goodwick. This involved a signing ceremony held aptly onboard the Stena Nordica when midway in the St. George's Channel.
So whether you have a personal connection to the service or simply an interest in the route’s rich maritime heritage, the exhibition promises to be a memorable and fitting tribute to one of the oldest and most significant ferry links in these islands.
The free exhibition (ferry port terminal) organised by the Rosslare Maritime Heritage Centre continues to be held throughout this week, August 25-30, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The 3-hour, 15-minute route is operated by Stena Line, and the port authority for the Co. Wexford Harbour is Irish Rail (Iarnród Éireann) and its associated rail services.
