A rare two-seat Hiawatha canoe is now up for sale. This handcrafted vessel is designed in the tradition of Native American canoes.

The Hiawatha measures 15 feet 3 inches in length. It is built from Western Red Cedar, Sapele, Ash, Maple, and Walnut. The canoe is coated with fibreglass, epoxy resin, and UV-resistant varnish for durability.

The same team constructing the Helen Blake replica lifeboat in Fethard On Sea, Wexford, built the Hiawatha. Two matching paddles made from Cherry wood, Sapele, and Ash accompany the canoe.

"This beautiful design connects to local history," a spokesperson said. "It would make an excellent display piece or a traditional paddling canoe."

All funds raised from the sale will aid in funding the construction of the Helen Blake lifeboat. Interested buyers can find more details on the Afloat boats for sale advert here
