Ciara, who has been at the top of Irish Radial fleets for years, is one of Ireland's best hopes of fulfilling the ISA's goal for the Beijing Olympics, a top eight finish, which has not been acheived since 1980.
Her eighth-place finish at the Olympic pre-event in Qingdao was the squad's top result, and she is said to revel in the light, tricky conditions that the venue is likely to throw up.
Ciara grew up through the Optimist fleet, learing to sail on Malahide's Broadmedows estuary, and campaigned at one stage in a 470 with fellow Optimist graduate, Laura Dillon.
