Ireland's sailing, boating & maritime magazine

Afloat.ie - Get on Board

12th June 2008

Here at Afloat HQ, we're working hard to allow boating enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes engage more and more with the conversation around our sport. And with the new and improved Afloat.ie, there's more ways than ever to do so.

In the last month, almost 9,000 of you have visited Afloat.ie. Now, we want to hear from you, so we're changing the site to make it easier for you to share your opinions - about sailing, motorboating, cruising, racing, surfing and waterskiing, and about our magazine.

POLLS

We've introduced interactive polls where you can have your say on the major issues of the day. We're currently tracking public opinion on the appeal over Ireland's Star nomination. Just click on your chosen option, hit vote, and see who agrees with you, in total anonymity.

We've introduced comments, meaning you can have your own say on every single article that we publish on Afloat.ie. Simply register as a user, and make your own comment at the bottom of any given article.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
