Waterways Ireland have applied to Clare Co. Co for permission to carry out the following works at the old canal in Killaloe. The development will consist of repairs to the existing canal wall, with the provision of a new walkway approximately 450m in length. New remotely operated flow control gates will be constructed in the existing canal with a new 250m floating mooring including access gangways and services installed on the river side of the canal." The application is visible on the Clare Co. Council website e-plan system
