News from Irish Beneteau distributor BJ Marine at this week's Cannes Boat Show is the announcement of the new Beneteau First 30.
According to BJ's General Manager James Kirwan, this design by Samuel Manuard follows the huge success of the First 36 and represents a key model for the Irish market.
Kirwan also points to the runaway success of the First 31.7 in Irish waters, a design that still commands strong one-design numbers, as seen at the recent national championships held during September's ICRA Championships.
With low loads, a simple rig and an uncluttered cockpit, Beneteau says the new First 30 doesn’t need a large crew or intense training sessions to make sailing fun and safe in all conditions - both shorthanded and as a family.
The First 30 is expected to deliver exceptional performance and exciting sailing all packaged in a very comfortable cruising configuration, Kirwan says.
Focusing on the needs of today’s sailors, Beneteau says it is an exhilarating boat that is quick and easy to get planing, yet astonishingly easy to handle even when sailing at double-digit speeds.
The First 30 is a comfortable saloon with 1.85 m (6.1 ft) headroom, a proper, functional galley with gimballed stove and fridge, marine head, above standard-sized front cabin and decently sized aft cabin with removable storage elements sufficient for a week’s cruising
"We will have the first boat displayed during Dusseldorf 2025 with a remarkable launch price of €100,000 ex vat for the basic boat, he adds.
