Like the weekend weather-hit Dublin Bay and Howth regattas, County Wicklow's 2024 BJ Marine Taste of Greystones Regatta was a one-day affair for the 50-boat fleet due to gale-force westerly winds.
In a new addition for 2024, the annual fixture featured the national championships of the Hunter Formula One class with four UK visitors competing as Afloat reports here.
Unfortunately, on Sunday (August 25), with very strong spring tides and 30 knots of wind going in the same direction, organisers couldn't hold some marks in place for the second day, and 'racing was pulled', leaving Saturday's results to count.
The regatta was contested under ECHO handicap only (despite results sheets saying IRC).
The BJ Marine Taste of Greystones Regatta celebrated 140 years of giant French boatbuilder Beneteau (represented by BJ Marine in Ireland), and the weekend also included the national championships of the Hunter Formula One class with four UK visitors
