BJ Marine has unveiled the French-built Beneteau First 36 SE, a planing cruiser-racer, targeting those who seek adventure on the water.
The launch couldn’t be timed better for the Irish and Irish Sea Market, says James Kirwan, BJ's Group Sales Manager.
"With the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race this week, there is huge interest in offshore and performance sailing, and the new First 36 SE will deliver on both counts," he told Afloat.

The design team includes noted naval architect Samuel Manuard and Bernard Nivelt, working to maximise the boat's potential. With a proven track record, including victories in the Rolex Middle Sea Race, the First 36 SE is set for success, says Kirwan.
Changes to the boat include a 400 kg reduction in overall weight. A redesigned bow and a shorter waterline improve acceleration and speed.
The First 36 SE features enhanced cockpit ergonomics, including a responsive tiller and soft foam deck grip for comfort. Additionally, it offers flush racing valves, an e-bar for tiller adjustments, and a carbon rig.
Despite these upgrades, the First 36 SE maintains all the cruising amenities of the standard First 36, delivered in a lighter, more minimalist style.

Kirwan says he looks forward to sharing further details on the new Beneteau range in the weeks ahead, as the Irish sea firm handed over a new Beneteau First 27 to Arklow Sailing Club last weekend, hot on the heels of the spectacular launch of the new First 30 earlier this season.
