Marine industry leaders will gather in Washington, D.C., from 24th–28th of May 2026 for the ICOMIA & IFBSO Congress. The event is hosted by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).

The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) and the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) will convene delegates for discussions on trade, market development, and collaboration.

The United States is the biggest recreational boat market by revenue share. The location reflects the sector’s global focus and evolving trade conditions.

“Bringing the ICOMIA and IFBSO Congress to Washington, D.C. offers a unique opportunity for global marine industry leaders to come together,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, NMMA president and CEO and board president of ICOMIA. He said NMMA looks forward to “meaningful dialogue, practical exchange and a deeper connection to the policy, innovation and partnerships that will shape the future of recreational boating worldwide.”

Shifting trade conditions are affecting supply chains, pricing and international participation, organisers said. The Congress will be a platform to share insights, build partnerships, and explore new growth opportunities.

“Congress is where boat show organisers and marine industry associations turn shared challenges into practical ideas that strengthen our events and accelerate market growth,” said Veda Pretorius, Executive Manager of IFBSO. She said meeting in the United States offers a chance to learn from a global benchmark, especially in data, consumer insights, and strategy.

A highlight of the programme is learning from NMMA’s work on audience development. Its Discover Boating initiative is noted for engaging new entrants into boating and connecting consumers to the industry.

“Hosting Congress in Washington, D.C. also creates a strong opportunity for ICOMIA and our members to deepen engagement across the Americas,” said Joe Lynch, CEO of ICOMIA. He added that closer geographic proximity should support broader participation from marine associations and boat shows across Southern, Central and North America.

Congress week will include networking, knowledge exchange and curated experiences. These include marina visits, a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol and Library of Congress, and a tailored Partners Programme.
