A 44-boat fleet from across the east coast is already lined up for Greystones Sailing Club’s BJ Marine Taste of Greystones Cruiser Regatta on Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30.

The entry, recorded as of August 14, brings together boats from Greystones and the four Dún Laoghaire waterfront clubs, as well as Howth, Wicklow, Arklow, Bray and Courtown.

Sponsored by BJ Marine, the two-day regatta combines three scheduled races with a substantial shoreside programme at Greystones Harbour.

Camira Among Class One Visitors

The National Yacht Club's *Camira*, a Beneteau First 31.7 entered by Brian Geraghty and Ken Ryan, is among the Class One visitors.

The entry also includes Declan Hayes's Royal Irish Yacht Club J/109 *Indecision*, while the home challenge includes Daragh Cafferky's A35 *Another Adventure*, Steve Hayes's Beneteau First 34.7 *Magic Touch* and Ian Fegan's Elan 37 *Madness*.

Courtown Sailing Club's Fareast 23R *Shake N Bake*, entered by James Mahon, adds another visiting entry to the division.

Strong 31.7 Representation

Beneteau First 31.7s feature prominently further down the fleet.

Greystones entries include Anthony Quinn's *Crazyhorse*, Gordon Cuthbert and N Lemasney's *Legally Blonde*, Paul Wafer's *Attitude* and Seamus O'Cleirigh's *Run N L8*.

Dún Laoghaire representation includes Michael Blaney's *After U2* from the Royal St George Yacht Club and Nick Holman's *Extreme Reality* from the Royal Irish Yacht Club.

Other Class Two entries include John Conlon's Arklow-based Sun Fast 37 *Humdinger*, Gerry O'Grady's First 30 JK *Gemini II*, Ian Barton's Oceanis 35 *Wraith* and Courtown entries *Panic* and *Molly*.

U25 Crews Join Class Three

The smaller-boat Class Three fleet includes two Greystones U25 Formula 1 entries, *Gybe 2 Survive* and *Jibberish*.

Dún Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club is represented by two Ruffians, Brenda McGuire's *Scéal Eile* and Frank Bradley's *Ripples*, while Greystones entries include Alan Jones's First 28 *Chouskikou* and Kieran O'Byrne's Hunter Impala *Huntress*.

Class Four, the non-spinnaker White Sails division, has attracted one of the widest geographical spreads.

The Dún Laoghaire contingent includes Robin Sykes's *Santé*, Duncan Lyster's *Almaviva*, Pat O'Dwyer's Bavaria Match 35 *Just Jasmin*, Howard Knott's *Calypso*, Peter Richardson's Dehler 36JV *Dehliverence* and Johnnie Phillips's Elan 333 *Playtime*.

Andy George and John Beckett are travelling from Howth Yacht Club with the Dufour 40 *Splashdance*, while Ken Glover's *Bateleur* represents Wicklow Sailing Club. Courtown's *Artemis*, Arklow's *Maggieile* and Bray's *Paloma* add to the visiting fleet.

ORC Results Added for Greystones

Taste of Greystones will also produce ORC results alongside the regatta's principal Standard ECHO scoring, adding a second handicap dimension to the two-day cruiser event.

Three Races Over Two Days

The Notice of Race provides for four ECHO divisions, with Classes One to Three divided by standard ECHO and Class Four reserved for White Sails boats racing without spinnakers. The handicap bands remain provisional and can be adjusted by the race committee before racing.

One race is scheduled for Saturday, with a warning signal at 14.25. Two races are planned for Sunday from 10.55, with organisers targeting completion by 14.30 and prizegiving at 15.30.

Racing will take place off Greystones, in an area extending from south of Bray Head to north of Breeches Mark.

Dinner, Breakfast and Berthing Included

The Taste of Greystones format puts an unusual emphasis on keeping visiting crews together ashore as well as afloat.

The €100 regatta entry includes a free Saturday-night berth at Greystones Marina, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast and the prizegiving lunch.

Free overnight berthing applies to boats racing on Saturday, with the organisers encouraging early entry to help accommodate the expected fleet in Greystones Marina.

With 44 distinct boats already appearing on the August 14 entry list and entries drawn from clubs along the east coast, the late-August fixture is shaping up as a sizeable end-of-summer cruiser gathering at Greystones Harbour.
