Australia’s marine trade sector strengthened ties with Southeast Asia through the Australia–Thailand Rendezvous held in Phuket on 22nd–23rd of January.

Hosted at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, with visits to Ao Po Grand Marina, the event brought Australian industry leaders face-to-face with superyacht captains and crew operating across Asia.

Australian delegates included Echo Yachts, Rivergate Marina and Shipyard, Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef, and The Lighthouse Consultancy. Their presence underscored Australia’s strategic approach to international superyacht business development.

Dock walks enabled direct engagement with more than 22 vessels. Key marina support came from Kevin Qulity, Manager at Ao Po Grand Marina, and Daniel Srimongkol, the newly appointed Manager at Phuket Yacht Haven.

Thailand International Boat Show

Among the yachts present were the 70m M/Y Alfa, 55m M/Y Azamanta, and 45m M/Y Berzinc.

Phuket recently hosted the Thailand International Boat Show, cementing its growing status as a major superyacht destination and a gateway to Australia.

A highlight of the Rendezvous was the Captain’s Lunch, sponsored by Echo Yachts, bringing together captains from vessels including M/Y Minor Family Affair, M/Y Tango 5, M/Y Alfa, and others.

“There was strong interest in Australia as a destination,” said Chris Blackwell, Sales and Marketing Manager at Echo Yachts. He confirmed that M/Y Indigo plans to visit Australia next year.

The event also featured a spirited cocktail competition using Australian spirits. The M/Y Minor Family Affair crew won with Australian-themed drinks and costumes.

An intimate networking party closed the event, drawing around 20 attendees and featuring live entertainment.

“It’s a privilege to showcase Australia and Rivergate,” said Alexander Binks, Marketing Manager at Rivergate Marina and Shipyard. “Interest was high in cruising, chartering and refit opportunities.”

The Rendezvous plays a key role in positioning Australia as a top-tier superyacht refit and cruising destination, while deepening links with vessels operating in the Asia-Pacific.

Superyacht Australia thanked Phuket Yacht Haven Marina and Asia Pacific Superyachts for their local support and hospitality.
