A new foiling dinghy has arrived on Irish waters.

The BirdyFish range is now distributed exclusively in Ireland by Foil & Sail, led by Dun Laoghaire's Alexander Trickett, a former 49er sailor and experienced WASZP campaigner.

The design aims to make foiling more accessible. Retractable foils and a stable hull allow sailors to transition from displacement mode to lift-off within minutes.

“Foiling has traditionally been limited to a small cohort of sailors,” Trickett said. “BirdyFish opens the door to a whole new level of fun — fast, safe, and accessible to anyone keen to try.”

Foil & Sail launched officially on Friday (February 27th). A programme of demonstration events is planned at sailing clubs nationwide.

The company expects delivery of all three BirdyFish models in late March. Further details and demo bookings are expected.
