Launch Ready — A BirdyFish foiling dinghy is prepared for launch at Dun Laoghaire Harbour ahead of demonstration sessions at the Royal St George Yacht Club

Foiling sailing will be on display in Dun Laoghaire next weekend with a two-day demonstration event at the Royal St George Yacht Club.

The event on April 18–19 will feature the BirdyFish foiling dinghy, marking its first organised showcase in Ireland.

On-water sessions and shore briefings are planned across both days. Organisers say the format is designed to give sailors practical insight into foiling techniques and boat handling.

Three sessions per day are scheduled, each lasting around two hours. These will include time afloat and follow-up briefings ashore.

A representative of the BirdyFish design team is expected to attend on Saturday to discuss the development of the boat and its intended role in club sailing.

Organisers say the aim is to introduce foiling in a structured and accessible club setting.

Places for the sessions are limited, with advance booking required.
