Grand Banks Yachts is marking its 70th anniversary with a global programme of events and new model development.
The milestone year will begin at the Palm Beach International Boat Show on 25 March. The company said the celebrations will run for seven months and include owner gatherings, editorial features and digital storytelling.
Founded in 1956 as American Marine Ltd. in Hong Kong, Grand Banks has played a key role in shaping modern long-range cruising yachts. The launch of the Grand Banks 36 in 1964 established the production trawler category and influenced yacht design for decades. Later developments included the Alaskan raised pilothouse series and the Eastbay line, introduced in 1993.

Chief Executive and Chief Designer Mark Richards said the anniversary marks both legacy and future direction. “When you reach a milestone like this, it’s worth pausing to recognise the pioneers, craftsmen, designers, and owners who built something special,” he said. “Grand Banks didn’t just build boats — it helped define what long-range cruising could be.”

Richards added that the company remains focused on innovation and performance. Under his leadership since 2014, Grand Banks introduced its V-WARP Technology and the Grand Banks 60, aimed at improving efficiency and range.
The company says its latest yachts can achieve up to 65% greater fuel efficiency than comparable vessels. Its current portfolio spans 16 models across the Grand Banks and Eastbay ranges.
Anniversary plans include owner events in the United States, Europe and Australia, alongside a commemorative edition of the company’s in-house magazine. Looking ahead, Grand Banks confirmed development of a new flagship, the Grand Banks 70. The model is expected to feature enhanced performance, increased customisation and updated design.
The company said the project reflects its continued focus on long-range cruising at speed.
