Marine Notice: Geophysical Survey in Irish Sea Throughout July

2nd July 2024
The survey vessel Glomar Vantage
The survey vessel Glomar Vantage will be involved in geophysical survey operations in the Irish Sea throughout July

The Department of Transport has been advised that a geophysical survey will be undertaken in the Irish Sea on behalf of McMahon Design and Management.

This survey will involve the deployment of towed equipment from the survey vessel within the bounds of the areas detailed in the table below.

The survey work is anticipated to take place between Wednesday 3 and Wednesday 31 July, subject to weather and operational constraints.

The survey will be conducted by the survey vessels Glomar Vantage (callsign HO3057) and Lady Kathleen (callsign EIXT2).

Due to the deployment of towed survey equipment, the survey vessels will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre and as such other vessels are kindly requested to keep a wide berth. The vessels will display appropriate lights and signals.

Other mariners are advised to keep continuous watch on VHF Channel 16 when navigating the relevant areas.

A map and coordinates of the survey routes, as well as contact details, can be found in Marine Notice No 38 of 2024, attached below.
