The two women who had made maritime history in the United States by becoming the first Admirals of the US Navy and its Coast Guard have now been removed from office by President Trump.
The first female head of the Navy, Admiral Lisa M Franchetti, was dismissed today without explanation. President Biden had appointed her.
On his first day in office, Trump removed, also without explanation, the first woman to head the US Coast Guard, Admiral Linda Fagan.
