The first woman to lead a military service in the United States has been removed from office by the Trump administration.
Admiral Linda Fagan had led the US Coast Guard since 2022, when her appointment by President Joe Biden made maritime history. Trump's administration has given no reason. She was notified by Trump's Homeland Security Secretary that she was being relieved of her command.
In 2021, she became the 32nd vice commandant of the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard's first female four-star admiral.
