A body has been recovered in the search for a person missing after a fishing boat sank in Carlingford Lough on Tuesday afternoon (2 June), as BreakingNews.ie reports.

A major multi-agency search and rescue operation was launched after the alarm was raised regarding a vessel in difficulty off Greencastle in Co Down shortly after 12.30pm.

One person was recovered from the vessel, and transferred to the care of HSE paramedics at Greenore, while the search continued for a second individual.

RTÉ News reports that divers from Kilkeel in Co Down and Dundalk Sub Aqua Search and Rescue recovered a body around 8.15pm on Tuesday evening.
