RYA Northern Ireland’s latest Women on Water Festival at Ballyholme Yacht Club has been hailed as a roaring success, with 42 women taking part in the event on Saturday (31 May).
As previously reported on Afloat.ie, Belfast-based chartered accountants RBCA are supporting the Women on Water programme in Northern Ireland this year, offering sailing, boating and networking opportunities to women — especially those with little or no experience in the sport.
Throughout the day, those involved had the chance to try yachting and dinghy sailing as well as powerboating, stand-up paddleboarding and windsurfing.
One of the participants, Ruth Farr said: “It’s been a brilliant day! It’s been great to get out on the water to try things because in a group you feel more confident. You can take it at your own pace which is amazing.”
