The volunteer crew of Arranmore RNLI were called at 2.50am on Thursday morning (31 October) to evacuate a patient from the island to a waiting ambulance in Burtonport for transfer to Letterkenny University Hospital in Co Donegal.
Speaking following the call-out, John McHugh, Arranmore RNLI relief mechanic said: “We are a 24/7 emergency service and are happy to be called out to assist in whatever emergency arises, day or night.
“We would like to wish the patient a speedy recovery and thank both the island and mainland ambulances for their services. We work very closely with all the emergency services who are also on call around the clock.”
The crew onboard the lifeboat were coxswain Sean Curtin, relief mechanic John McHugh, Seán O’Donnell, Kieran O’Donnell and Sharon O’Donnell.
