A major search for a sailor reported missing in South Wales was stood down after the man in question walked into a Garda station in Co Wicklow.
Keen photographer Chris Ellery has travelled from England to Fishguard on his RIB for a short visit but failed to return home when expected.
As RTÉ News reports, the alarm was raised with HM coastguard, police and five RNLI lifeboats this past Wednesday (30 October).
Searches continued until Saturday afternoon (2 November), when news was received that Ellery had made himself known to gardaí in Co Wicklow.
It’s understood that the 54-year-old man’s vessel drifted across the Irish Sea in the intervening days.
Volunteer lifeboat press officer for Fishguard RNLI, Cedwyn Rogers said: “This is a fantastic outcome for the casualty and his family following what must have been a very concerning time for them all and hope they are reunited very soon.”
