A coffee morning organised by Mullaghdun Community Association has raised £500 for RNLI lifesaving services on Lough Erne. The donation was presented by association chairperson Cecilia Feely and fellow committee members to Fintan Timoney of the Lough Erne RNLI Fundraising Group.
The RNLI operates two Atlantic 85 B-Class lifeboats on Lough Erne. One is based in Carrybridge, where Timoney serves as treasurer, while the second is based in Killadeas. The Enniskillen lifeboat station opened in 2001, followed by Carrybridge in 2002. Both stations have received modern new facilities over the past decade.
The RNLI said the development of the stations and the provision of lifeboats have been made possible through the continued support of local communities and donors.
Stephen Scott, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Carrybridge RNLI, welcomed the contribution. "We are delighted to receive this generous donation to the lifesaving work of both lifeboat stations on Lough Erne," he said. "On behalf of the fundraising group and both stations, I'd like to thank the local community for supporting this event and Mullaghdun Community Association for choosing to support our charity. It is very much appreciated."
The £500 donation will help support the RNLI's volunteer crews and ongoing lifesaving operations on Lough Erne.
