Youghal RNLI was involved in a multi-agency rescue on Thursday morning (5 November) after a car got into difficulty on the Waterford side of Youghal Bridge.
The volunteer crew were requested to launch their inshore lifeboat at 9.04am. The lifeboat, helmed by Jack Nolan, with crew members Liam Keogh and Eddie Hennessy on board, made its way to the scene.
On arrival, the crew observed that a casualty was being treated by paramedics from the National Ambulance Service and personnel from Youghal and Ardmore Fire Brigade, who were already at the scene. Gardaí and Youghal and Ardmore Coast Guard also responded.
The casualty was safely transferred onto the lifeboat, along with a paramedic, and brought back to Youghal RNLI station. From there, the casualty was transferred into the care of a waiting air ambulance crew and brought to hospital.
Speaking following the call-out, John Innes, Youghal RNLI Launch Authority, said:
‘We want to wish the casualty a speedy recovery following their accident this morning. We also want to thank and commend our colleagues in the various emergency services who responded. This call out was a great example of teamwork and collaboration with all involved putting their skills and training into practice to bring someone to safety.’
