Water Safety Ireland has announced the athletes selected to represent Ireland at the 2026 European Youth Lifesaving Championships. The championships will take place in Rome, Italy, from 27 to 29 July and will feature pool-based lifesaving competition.
Twelve athletes have been named across the boys’ and girls’ teams, representing Water Safety Area Committees from across the country.
The female team includes Orla Blake (Clare WSAC), Ruth Connolly (Wicklow WSAC), Elva McAuley (Cork WSAC), Anya McKenna (Wicklow WSAC), Laura Smyth (Waterford WSAC) and Chloe Thompson (Kilkenny WSAC).
Selected on the male team are Dylan Burke (Kilkenny WSAC), Daniel Corkery (Waterford WSAC), Eric Cronin (Clare WSAC), Dylan Mulcahy (Cork WSAC), Leon Nugent (Wexford WSAC) and Lewis Timmins (Cork WSAC).
Water Safety Ireland congratulated all athletes on their selection and thanked competitors, officials, volunteers and Water Safety Area Committees for their continued support of lifesaving sport. The European Youth Lifesaving Championships bring together leading young lifesaving athletes from across Europe in a programme that combines swimming, rescue, and emergency response skills.
