Volunteer applications have opened for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Sardinia.

The regatta will be held in the port city of Cagliari from 21–24 May 2026. It marks the first stop on the event’s “Road to Naples” series. Organisers are seeking volunteers across a range of roles to support the international sailing event.

Most positions are land-based. Volunteers will assist with reception duties, visitor services and information points within the Race Village and Fan Zones. Other roles include on-water support, work within the television and content production teams, and assistance at the international Media Centre.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old by 31 December 2025. Volunteers must also be available for at least 4 days between 21 and 24 May 2026 during the Cagliari regatta.

Organisers confirmed that registration for the volunteer programme is now open.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
