The America’s Cup Partnership has appointed Marzio Perrelli as its first Chief Executive Officer.
The move forms part of a new governance structure aimed at long-term stability and growth for the event. Grant Dalton will remain Chairman of the partnership. He continues as CEO of Emirates Team New Zealand, the Defender for the 38th America’s Cup in Naples.
Perrelli brings experience across finance and sports media. He previously held senior roles at Goldman Sachs and HSBC before joining Sky Italy in 2018. At Sky, he served as Executive Vice President overseeing the sports division, including editorial, production and rights strategy.
Perrelli said the role carries responsibility for both heritage and future development. “The America’s Cup is the oldest and most prestigious competition in international sport,” he said.
“Our responsibility… is to preserve its deep heritage while ensuring greater continuity, stability and long-term growth.” He added that the new structure would provide “a more consistent framework for teams, partners and host venues”.
Dalton said the appointment comes at a key moment for the event. “On behalf of the ACP Board, it’s an appropriate time to be welcoming Marzio Perrelli as its first Chief Executive Officer,” he said.
Dalton pointed to growing participation and new initiatives, including women sailing on AC75 yachts and expanded youth pathways. He also highlighted commercial opportunities through broadcast partnerships and onboard guest programmes.
Perrelli will take up the role on 7 April 2026. His appointment comes ahead of the preliminary regatta in Sardinia, scheduled for May 21–24.
