More than half of the expected fleet has already entered the 2026 Quintas Capital Calves Week in Schull, West Cork, with organisers reporting strong early interest ahead of Monday's discounted entry deadline.

Thirty-eight boats have entered so far from an anticipated fleet of more than 70 for the four-day regatta, which runs from 4 to 7 August.

The event will feature seven class fleets, including spinnaker and white sail divisions, bringing together a broad mix of cruiser-racers ranging from the 1902 gaff cutter *Lady Min* to John Treanor's NDM 43 *Cristina*.

Racing will take place among the islands of Carbery's Hundred Isles and across Roaringwater Bay, combining competitive courses with one of Ireland's most scenic sailing venues.

Ashore, organisers say the regatta's family atmosphere will continue with daily prizegivings, sponsor receptions at Schull Harbour Hotel and evening entertainment on Schull's Main Street.

Calves Week Regatta takes place in Schull in early August, continuing the annual tradition in West Cork since the inception of the Schull Harbour Sailing Club in 1884.

In more recent years, a more compact schedule as an alternative to the older two-week even has proved popular.

The four-day Calves Week Championships with the usual mix of courses taking in the Fastnet Rock and many of Carbery's Hundred Isles, together with laid courses in Roaringwater Bay is one of Irish sailing's enduring fixtures.

A daily prize-giving takes place on Main Street in Schull, which sees a nautical festival theme for the village organised by local businesses.
